Protect Your Credit by Patrick Cicala, Countrywide Home Loans

I was searching for some information on credit as this week’s topic is Security. You see I went shopping over the weekend and was denied a credit card at Pac Sun. I was told I would receive a letter in the mail. In a panic, I called my lender that did my refinancing and he told me not to worry.

I obtained a copy of my credit report though and it had alot of credit cards that I don’t use. However I have excellent credit, in the 790s. It was 805 a few weeks ago though and had gone down a little because I had refinanced and had my credit run.

So Patrick Cicala of Countrywide took the time to explain some things that I can share with my readers about protecting their credit:

Close credit cards you don’t use to prevent theft and to bring credit scores up.

Increase your credit limit. This will show how you have the capability to have money and establish credit.

Try to keep only 3 lender lines opened (mortgage, credit car).

Don’t fall for those credit cards offering a discount to open them up! If you do get one, pay the bill and then close the card.

Pay off everything in 30 days.
And be happy and enjoy life!!!

If you would like a copy of the booket, “Your Credit Score and What it means” please contact Patrick Cicala at 917-273-6050 or email at Patrick_Cicala@Countrywide.com. Tell him you saw it on Westfield Chat.
